APE was established in 2000 by Banco Popolare Group as Aletti Private Equity SGR S.p.A. The company’s purpose is to raise and manage closed-end private equity funds.
In 2002 Fondo Dimensione Impresa was the first closed-end fund to be set up. It has a committed capital of about Euro 50 millions raised with retail investors.
In 2003 the second closed-end fund was set up under the name of Fondo Dimensione Network. It has a committed capital of more than Euro 40 million and it is reserved to institutional investors.
Between year 2003 and 2008 a total amount of 11 investment and 6 disinvestment operations were carried out.
In 2009, under authorisation of Bank of Italy, the Company was sold to Assietta S.p.A., a newco controlled by partners of Cornaglia & Associati, moved its headquarters to Via Cesare Cantù, 1, in Milano, and changed its business name into Assietta Private Equity SGR S.p.A. also known as APE SGR S.p.A.
In 2014, APE SGR acquired Intermonte BCC Private Equity SGR S.p.A.
In 2015 APE SGR closed APE III fundraising with 48 millions raised, already deployed with 4 investments and still investing it.
